"Kathy Campbell has worked tirelessly as the Canteen Manager
at Castlemaine Secondary College Senior Campus for 14 years.
Her energy and enthusiasm for the students has never wavered.
Through change and transition, Kathy has made the canteen
run smoothly and she makes the incredible task seem effortless.
Over these years, Kathy has served literally thousands of
students a healthy and nutritious lunch over her prestigious
career - up to 400 students a day - which is no small feat!
Kathy takes an enormous amount of pride in the canteen -
and deservedly so. Meal preparation, ordering, budgeting,
serving, supporting students, overseeing volunteers and maintaining
a smile and good sense of humour is a huge undertaking that
she always accomplishes without fail.
Over the years it has been an effort to maintain volunteer
help for the canteen, so recently Kathy has taken the initiative
of implementing a program of working with young people as
volunteers as part of their requirements as they search for
suitable employment. Kathy's supportive and friendly nature
has ensured that this has been a success - not only for our
canteen, but also in the lives of these young adults as she
teaches them skills and supports them!
This goes for all the students that Kathy works with in the
canteen - she has supported School Based Apprentices as well
as the myriad of students who volunteer to help serve at recesses
and lunchtimes. Her valuable input into their lives is something
that cannot be measured.
It is the service…but the most admirable qualities of Kathy
are those that most do not see - it's the extra things - the
behind the scenes research into getting the best produce,
it's the meal preparation often by herself everyday, it's
the smile and friendliness at the counter to every student,
it's the supportive way she builds confidence in our students.
Kathy is a unique and special canteen manager - humble, energetic,
friendly and incredibly experienced and competent. We have
many staff, parents and students who would add their vote
of confidence in nominating Kathy and I simply cannot recommend
her highly enough for this prestigious award."
