Testimonials from children

"… In 2005, a community based enterprise called SMART Cuisine re-opened the Westall Primary School canteen that had been non-operational for 20 years.. SMART Cuisine is managed by 3 Indian women and 1 African woman.. Initially once a week, the enterprise now provides healthy lunches on a fee for service basis to the school every Wednesday and Friday [and has expanded to other schools in the area]..

"Government funding has allowed SMART Cuisine to develop a highly subsidised healthy eating promotion to local schools... [involving] information sessions designed to be highly interactive and fun... followed by free healthy lunches..

"The establishment of SMART Cuisine is a [joint] effort between the City of Kingston, AMES, Oakes Mothers' Club, Westall PS, Department for Victorian Communities and Department for Families, Communities and Indigenous Affairs."

- Keith Mealor, Principal
