"Our school began in 2000 and Maris and the youngest of her
ten children arrived during that year. Since then Maris has
been an invaluable support to our whole school community.
She is always dependable, ready to lend a hand or an ear,
bake a slice or two and is never afraid to take on any new
challenge. Maris has a wonderful rapport with staff, students
and other parents.
"In the canteen, Maris collated all the lunch orders,
did the money, recorded frig temperatures and did other preparations
for lunch time three to four mornings a week. She was always
on hand to show any new mums the ropes at lunch time and never
failed to be there at the last minute if a call came that
the mum on duty couldn't come or didn't show up. Maris had
done all this and more and I have never heard her complain
about her debilitating arthritic condition.
"Now Maris is hanging up the school years after ten
children and thirty two years of schooling, canteen assistant
duty, managing the second hand uniform shop, supporting the
parents and friends association and much more.
"We will all miss your cheery personality, your smile,
your sense of humour, your wonderful outlook on life, your
cooking and your help.
"You are an inspiration to us all."
